Each session of art journal play will feature a new technique that you can add to your art journaling and mixed media art tool box. These techniques are meant to give you different ways to play and explore.

All supplies are provided.

Jan. 8th
Creative Intentions Art Journal Play – We will kick off the new year in our art journals by creating a vision for our 2025 creative intentions! We will bring our vision to life with words, color, paint layers, and more. All supplies are provided.

Feb. 12th
Art Journal Love – It’s Valentine’s week! Come show your art journal some love through creative play. Come ready to explore and learn some new simple techniques that you can use over and over again. All supplies are provided.

Mar. 12th
Found Word Storytelling – we will play with telling a story in our art journal using vintage photos and found words in vintage books. We will create a fun background and add our little story to a page in our journal. This exercise is always a favorite. All supplies are provided.

Apr. 9th
Paint & Stitch – Using a combination of paint, fabric, and stitching we will create fun unexpected combinations that can be added to an art journal or used in another creative way. All supplies are provided.

May 14th
Gel Print Play – come have fun creating one of a kind prints using a gel plate. We will play with color and pattern and have a stash of prints to choose from for
collage, backgrounds, and more to use in our art journals and in our art. (This class is limited to 10 students.)

June 11th
Image Transfer Play – We will play with fun image transfers using tape! This technique creates a unique look that you can use in your art journal pages or in your art work. All supplies are provided.

July 9th
Easy Stamp Carving Play – Come make your own carved stamps. Stamps are such a great way to add shape, color, and interest to your art journal pages. We will draw our own stamp designs and carve a small collection of unique stamps that can be used over and over again. All supplies are provided. (This class is limited to 10 students.)

Aug. 13th
Collage Play – We will play with various materials and collage techniques to add fun and interest to our art journals. All supplies are provided.

Sep. 10th
Stencils and Stitches – Come and have fun playing with the combination of stencils and hand stitching. We will work on a fun piece that can be added to our journals or stand alone. All supplies are provided.

Oct. 8th
Watercolor and Stencil Play – We will play with simple watercolors combined with stencils. When you think about using stencils you typically think about using
acrylic paint. Come see how watercolors give an unexpected look. A fun technique to add to your toolbox. All supplies are provided.

Nov. 12th
Magazine Play – Magazines are a great source for art journal elements. We will play with images that speak to us and make them our own by creating a new image. All supplies are provided.

Price: $45 for instruction/supplies – including a starter kit. Note: Refunds are offered up to 7 days in advance of the class. The registration will not be credited towards future classes for no shows or last minute cancellations.
