McKinney, Texas (Aug. 29, 2023) — The McKinney Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) has appointed Michael Kowski as President and CEO, effective October 1. Kowski, with over 16 years of experience in long-term city planning and urban development, has a successful background in key projects such as the $11 million indoor tennis facility at The Courts of McKinney, the $25 million renovation of the McKinney Soccer Complex at Craig Ranch, and the acquisition of 230 acres of parkland for future community and economic development projects within the Painted Tree development.
Kowski, previously Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of McKinney, expressed his enthusiasm for the role, focusing on expanding economic opportunities and attracting new businesses and experiences to the community.
Prior to joining McKinney, Kowski’s experience included overseeing the City of Orland Park’s Open Lands Commission, managing site planning, transportation, and economic development activities, and contributing to downtown Main Street redevelopment projects. He is a Certified Urban Designer (CUD) and a credentialed urban planner with extensive education in urban studies and architecture.
MEDC Board Chairman Brian Loughmiller anticipates continued success under Kowski’s leadership, citing his proven track record and knowledge of McKinney.
