Starting this year, McKinney ISD students must keep cell phones, smartwatches, earbuds, and other personal devices powered off and stored in backpacks during the school day, per a new state law. Devices can still be used before and after school—including on the bus—and in emergencies. Students with health-related needs can coordinate with the school nurse for exceptions.
