After losing her job in Florida, Stephanie Elwell, owner of Drips Sweets Boutique in McKinney, decided to move to Texas and start her own bakery business specializing in Drip Cakes.

Tell us about the business and your background
I was living in Florida when the pandemic hit and I lost my job. I got laid off from a country club where I had been working for a few years. So I moved to Texas to be near my family, and decided to create my own cake company, working from home, due to COVID. I make everything from scratch, with recipes that I have worked on for years.
I am a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu. For the past 12 years, I have been a professional Pastry Chef for fine dining restaurants, resorts and country clubs in Colorado, Michigan, and Florida.
What does your business do?
I create artistic custom cakes, desserts and seasonal/holiday treats.
Any products or things that make the business unique?
My artistic creativity, the quality and taste of my product through my experience working in high end restaurants and resorts. My style is pretty unique. I specialize in Drip Cakes.
What do you most love about what you get to do for a living?
Making a piece of art and handing it to a happy customer.
