McKinney Chamber’s New Intern, Sponsored by Shamrock Bank
Heather Aldridge recently graduated from the University of North Texas with a bachelor’s degree in digital and print journalism and creative writing. Her college experience has grown her appreciation for photography, videography, and social media, and she hopes to develop her skills to create inspiring stories about unique individuals.
Aldridge previously interned at Park Cities People’s Newspaper as an editorial intern and published several articles about the Park Cities communities in Dallas. She has also chased down stories and published a feature story for the UNT newspaper, North Texas Daily. She loves writing stories that dive into the lives of real people and establishing a connection between her readers and the person she is writing about.
In addition to her experience in writing, she has also helped run a social media account for her campus organization, The Denton Wesley Foundation. She curated posts about the weekly events and planned field trips to encourage bonding and friendship within the group. She planned two different kayaking trips, roller skating excursions, and a trip to the Shiloh Field for a community service activity.
Alongside her journalism passions, she dreams of publishing a fiction novel and becoming an author. She is currently in the beginning stages of writing her first novel. Her long-term goal is to become a full-time author so she can share her creative stories with the world and immerse readers in imaginative and fantastical universes.
In her free time, when she isn’t working on her novel, she enjoys paddle boarding, hammocking, reading, and spending time with the people she loves.
