Name of Business: Educated Bookkeeping

Location: McKinney, TX

Tell us about your business: We are a full charge bookkeeping firm serving small businesses throughout the metroplex. We handle all the day to day accounting needs so business owners can focus on the revenue generating activities for their business.

How have you benefited from being an Ambassador- or comment about your experience – Why are you an Ambassador?:

I enjoy the engagement I get from interacting with other local business owners and the rest of the Ambassador team. It can be easy to feel alone when you’re starting your own business and those connections really help to remind you that all of us are experiencing the same fears, challenges and concerns. I also love being there to celebrate the moment a business launches and be that check-in periodically to see how things are going. There are so many highs and lows in owning a business and the connections that the Chamber allows you to make really goes a long way in supporting you through those experiences.

Tell us about your involvement in the Community?

One of my favorite places to volunteer at is The Community Food Pantry of McKinney. They serve such a huge need in our community and provide a choice oriented experience for the neighbors that they serve. I also volunteer at the Heard Craig Center for the Arts and have enjoyed learning more about the history of McKinney through that experience. We also serve periodically as a foster home for dogs in the Collin County Animal Shelter.

What are your hobbies? : I have typical hobbies like reading, gardening, cooking and traveling. I’m currently working through a big home renovation project so that is taking up a lot of my time. I also spend about 15 weekends a year traveling the country to judge marching band and color guard competitions.

Tell us a little about you and your family:

I was previously a public school teacher for 20 years and spent 12 of those in McKinney ISD teaching high school math. My boyfriend and I are both business owners and have four dogs of our own, two pit mixes, one german shepherd and one supermutt. Our immediate family is all local so we get together with them frequently. We also just had the opportunity to celebrate my grandparents’ 75th wedding anniversary which was a lovely experience.
