In a spirit of warmth and generosity, the Medical City of McKinney and the McKinney Chamber Ambassadors, along with our dedicated staff, joined hands to organize a remarkable Ambassador Sock Drive this year. We are overjoyed to share the news that, thanks to your incredible support, a total of 1,321 socks were collected for the Meals on Wheels program.
Meals on Wheels, a non-profit organization dedicated to delivering meals to individuals in need, goes beyond addressing nutritional requirements. They serve as a vital social lifeline, combating the challenges of isolation and loneliness that many of their recipients face. The primary focus of their programs is to prevent premature placement in long-term care facilities due to insufficient nutrition and other isolation-related issues.
Among the most requested items by Meals on Wheels beneficiaries are socks and gloves. These seemingly simple items play a significant role in providing comfort and addressing essential needs often overlooked. Recognizing this, our community rallied together to make a difference.
Medical City McKinney, in a display of community commitment, contributed 500 socks to the drive. The remaining 821 socks were generously donated by our Ambassadors and staff. In the upcoming months, each meal delivered by Meals on Wheels will be accompanied by a new pair of warm socks.
