The McKinney Chamber of Commerce successfully hosted a dynamic Candidate Forum on March 13th, providing voters with a unique opportunity to engage with candidates in a more personal setting. The event featured candidates running for mayor, city council, and school board, allowing attendees to interact with them in a rotating, speed-dating-style format.
Unlike traditional candidate forums, this innovative format enabled voters to have direct, face-to-face conversations with candidates, ask pressing questions, and gain deeper insight into their platforms. By fostering these one-on-one interactions, the McKinney Chamber aims to create a more engaging and informative experience for the community.
“There are many candidate forums available, but our Chamber chooses this unique approach to offer voters a different type of interaction,” said Lisa Hermes, President and CEO of the McKinney Chamber. “Our mission is to educate community members and business owners about the candidates and the issues that impact our local elections.”
In addition to hosting the forum, the McKinney Chamber provides several resources to help voters make informed decisions. Through partnerships with BallotReady and Collin County Votes, the Chamber’s website offers comprehensive information on voting dates, polling locations, and other election-related details. Furthermore, candidates completed surveys before the forum, which are available for review below:
