McKinney ranks among the top small U.S. cities for career opportunities, according to a new study from CoworkingCafe analyzing nearly 300 small cities nationwide. McKinney placed No. 20 overall, outperforming the typical small city across measures including income, job density, workforce participation, remote-work readiness and access to high-growth industries.
The study found that McKinney combines strong earning power with relative affordability, with a median household income of $124,177 and housing costs that outperform most small cities nationally. McKinney also ranks highly for labor force participation (72%) and remote-work share (26.7%), reflecting a workforce that is both engaged and well positioned for flexible, modern careers.
Together, these factors place McKinney among a small group of cities offering big-city career opportunities with small-city quality of life, reinforcing its reputation as a competitive destination for professionals looking to grow and thrive outside major metros.
