While it is rare, COVID-19 can spread to pets.
How do you protect your pet?
• Avoid dog parks
• When walking your pup, use a leash and stay 6 ft away from other people (always a good idea)
• Keep cats indoors
What to do if a pet parent is diagnosed with COVID-19?
• Try to send your pet to stay with a friend or family member. If this is not possible, then:
• Isolate yourself from your pet
• Avoid petting, snuggling, being kissed or licked, and sharing food or bedding with your pet
• If you care for your pet or are around animals while you're sick, wear a mask
• Wash your hands before and after handling animals and their food, waste, and supplies.
• Clean up after your pet
What are the symptoms of COVID in pets?
• Eye discharge
• Vomiting/Diarrhea
• Runny Nose
• Sneezing
• Cough
• Difficulty breathing
• Fever
If your pet is diagnosed with COVID-19:
• Keep your pet at home, except for medical treatment
• Separate your pet from other pets and people
• Monitor your pet's symptoms
• Protect yourself when caring for a sick pet (wash your hands, wear a mask, disinfect)
