After a nail-biting primary election in Texas House District 61, Keresa Richardson and Frederick Frazier emerged as the top contenders, setting the stage for a runoff in May.

With all 59 voting centers reporting, unofficial results from Collin County reveal Richardson garnered 7,235 votes, securing approximately 39.8% of the total vote. Frazier closely followed, capturing 5,840 votes, constituting around 32% of the vote. Chuck Branch trailed behind with 5,126 votes, representing just over 28% of the vote.

As neither Richardson nor Frazier attained a majority, they are poised for a runoff election slated for May 28. The victor will square off against Democratic candidate Tony Adams, who ran unopposed in the primary.

The Texas House District 61 seat encompasses sections of McKinney, Frisco, Celina, and Anna. Incumbent Frederick Frazier, elected in 2022, currently occupies the position.

While these results remain unofficial until canvassed, they highlight the intense competition within the district’s political landscape. Stay tuned for updates on this pivotal runoff race.
