You can still provide comfort & a luxury to your overnight guests without overspending on tiny toiletries. While toiletries are important to have, you don’t need to create a store within your guest bathroom vanity.
Below is my very simple list of essentials for your overnight guests. You can absolutely provide more than this, but my goal is to share the simplest items that still make a big impact!
- Power Strip: Don’t make your guests move the bed around to find the outlet. A power strip on either side of the bed, makes it easy for your guest to easily locate power for charging phones and other devices.
- Phone Charger: Something I am adding to our guest room is a phone charger in case our guests forget them. Power banks are also a great option that you can use even when you don’t have guests.
- Glasses for Water: I don’t know about you, but I have to have water next to me at night. Make it easy for your guests to quench their thirst by having glasses readily available for them and of course offering to fill them.
- Small Basket with Essentials: Think travel size shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, tissues, q-tips, cotton rounds, a shower cap, toothbrushes, & toothpaste. I gathered all of these items in a nice little basket with fresh face towels, as well. These items are great to collect throughout the year, that are not only great for visiting guests, but for travel, of course! If you are feeling bougie, both Target & Ulta sell mini versions of your favorite lux products! Just remember, you don’t need more than one of each! Bonus Tip: Keep an extra hair dryer under the sink or offer up your favorite one if you don’t have an extra!
- Fresh Towels: I know this is an obvious one, but you wouldn’t want to forget it! I love our guests to have nice fluffy towels after a relaxing shower.
- Closet Space: Even if it is a small corner of a filled closet, make sure to have space for your guests to hang clothes. This is especially important if your guests are in town for a more formal event like a wedding, and need a place to keep their clothes wrinkle free.
- Lamp: A lamp of some sort is great to have for night time reading or just nice ambient lighting your guests will definitely appreciate.
- Wi-Fi Information: We keep a small little frames print in our guest bedroom with our wi-fi network name and password. Your guests will love not even having to ask you!
- Bonus: Flowers! While not a must, flowers or plants can be a fun touch! Even a small vase with a few stems of eucalyptus can make a room feel relaxing and welcoming. Trader Joe’s typically has small potted plants or small floral arrangements ready to set out on a nightstand!
