Women’s History Month: She Leads McKinney

In honor of Women’s History Month, the McKinney Chamber and Women’s Alliance of McKinney is proud to launch She Leads McKinney, a month-long celebration of women in our community who are making a difference through leadership, innovation, service and community impact.

Nominated by fellow Chamber members, these inspiring leaders reflect the strength, vision, and collaborative spirit that help McKinney thrive. Throughout March, this page will be updated with new features highlighting their stories, accomplishments and the meaningful ways they serve our community.

We invite you to follow along as we celebrate the women who lead, uplift, and shape McKinney every day.

C’Ella Clayton: Director of Marketing, Trinity Falls

C’Ella Clayton, Director of Marketing at Trinity Falls, is being recognized as part of the She Leads McKinney Women’s History Month campaign for her dedication to strengthening the McKinney community. Known for her collaborative spirit and ability to connect people, C’Ella has spent more than five years actively supporting local businesses, nonprofits and community initiatives. Her work reflects a deep commitment to building relationships that help both organizations and individuals thrive.

“She embodies what we should strive for in business and community. She gives freely of her time to make the McKinney community a better place. She works hard to collaborate with local businesses and she’s a fantastic connector.”

Beyond her professional role, C’Ella consistently gives back through volunteer service and community leadership. She supports the McKinney Chamber, serves on local boards, and volunteers through the Junior League of Collin County. She also founded the Trinity Falls Trail Day 5K, an annual event that raises thousands of dollars each year for McKinney-area nonprofits. Through her leadership and generosity, C’Ella continues to make a lasting impact across the community.

Kerri Steele: Founder and Executive Director, Little Hearts of Hope

Kerri Steele, Founder and Executive Director of Little Hearts of Hope, is being recognized as part of the She Leads McKinney Women’s History Month campaign for her dedication to supporting families facing some of life’s most difficult moments. Through her work, Kerri has created meaningful resources for children who have a parent or sibling diagnosed with cancer, helping them navigate the emotional challenges that often accompany a family health crisis.

Driven by compassion and a deep commitment to service, Kerri founded Little Hearts of Hope to ensure that children facing these circumstances feel supported and understood. Each month, the organization provides thoughtfully designed care packages tailored to different age groups, giving children tools to process their emotions and connect with others who may be experiencing similar challenges.

Through her leadership, Little Hearts of Hope has become a vital source of encouragement and connection for families. Kerri’s dedication ensures that every child served by the organization feels seen, supported and cared for during a difficult time. By pouring her heart into this mission, Kerri has built a legacy of compassion that empowers young people to find strength, healing and hope, even during some of the most challenging moments in their lives.

Alicia Bush: Founder, Treasured Vessels Foundation

Alicia Bush, Founder of Treasured Vessels Foundation, is being recognized as part of the She Leads McKinney Women’s History Month campaign for her leadership and dedication to serving survivors of human trafficking and sexual exploitation.

For more than a decade, Alicia has led Treasured Vessels Foundation in creating Christ-centered safe homes and restoration programs for young women ages 18–24. Through safe housing, trauma-informed care, education and life-skills training, the organization helps survivors rebuild their lives and move toward independence.

As Treasured Vessels Foundation marks 10 years of service, Alicia continues to expand its impact. The recent launch of a second safe house strengthens the pathway for survivors transitioning from stabilization to long-term independence.

Through her compassionate leadership and commitment to service, Alicia Bush continues to create lasting change for survivors and the North Texas community.

Lauren Stephan: President, SBG Hospitality

Lauren Stephan, President of SBG Hospitality, is being recognized as part of the She Leads McKinney Women’s History Month campaign for her entrepreneurial leadership and impact on the region’s events and hospitality industry.

Lauren built SBG Hospitality from the ground up in McKinney and has grown the company into a multi-event business producing signature events across Texas. From the McKinney Margarita Stroll to regional food and wine festivals, her events create powerful platforms that spotlight local businesses, drive foot traffic and generate meaningful economic impact.

“She exemplifies what it means to be a dynamic entrepreneur and dedicated mom, building community and opportunity wherever she goes.”

Under her leadership, the company has grown from a two-person team to a thriving organization while maintaining strong partnerships with brands, cities and organizations across North Texas.

Through her vision and dedication, Lauren continues to create events that bring communities together while helping local businesses grow.

Braeden Duffee: Nature Preserve Manager, Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary

Braeden Duffee, Nature Preserve Manager at the Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary, is being recognized as part of the She Leads McKinney Women’s History Month campaign for her leadership in conservation and community engagement.

Braeden oversees habitat restoration and land management across the Heard’s 289-acre preserve, helping protect ecosystems like the rare Blackland Prairie while strengthening McKinney’s environmental resilience. She also supports internships for university students and oversees one of Texas’ longest-running bird banding stations, which has recorded more than 25,000 birds since 1989.

Her upcoming Heard Wetland Restoration Initiative will restore a 50-acre wetland in the Wilson Creek floodplain while engaging businesses, volunteers, and community members in hands-on conservation efforts.

Through her dedication to restoration, education, and collaboration, Braeden helps ensure the natural spaces that make McKinney thrive are protected for future generations.

Ayesha Hosein: Chiropractor/ Owner, Spineally Chiropractic

As part of our She Leads McKinney series, we’re proud to highlight Ayesha Hosein, owner of Spineally Chiropractic, whose leadership is rooted in compassion, resilience, and service.

Ayesha, a military veteran, followed her calling to chiropractic care and took the leap to open her own practice in a new community. Today, she provides care to patients when they need it most — offering not just treatment, but hope.

Her impact extends beyond her business. Ayesha is actively involved in the community, volunteering her time, mentoring future chiropractors, and supporting local organizations. Recently, she donated $1,000 to the McKinney Food Pantry after learning of a funding need, reflecting her instinct to give without expecting anything in return.

Those who know her describe a rare kind of strength, one shaped by experience but grounded in kindness. As she continues to build connections in McKinney, Ayesha is already making a meaningful impact, with an even greater vision to serve others in the years ahead.

Alyse Ferguson: Attorney, Texas Defense Firm

Alyse Ferguson, attorney at Texas Defense Firm, is being recognized as part of the She Leads McKinney Women’s History Month campaign for her leadership in mental health advocacy and criminal justice reform.

Alyse works at the intersection of law, law enforcement and community care—training local police departments on how to respond to mental health crises and helping implement tools like the APOWW form, an alternative to arrest that prioritizes care and safety.

“Her passion for advocacy of those who can’t advocate for themselves is what sets Alyse apart from the crowd. Her deep compassion and empathy collides with a comprehensive understanding of the intricacies of law.”

Through her leadership, Alyse is helping shift outcomes across Collin County, connecting individuals in crisis to the support they need while reducing unnecessary criminalization.

Her work continues to strengthen both our community and the systems designed to serve it.

Wendy Kidd: Founder and Owner, Each & Every Detail

Wendy Kidd, Founder and Owner of Each & Every Detail, is being recognized as part of the She Leads McKinney Women’s History Month campaign for her leadership, advocacy, and unwavering commitment to serving others.

Wendy is deeply involved in the McKinney community, regularly serving on nonprofit boards and committees. Most recently, she stepped in as interim executive director for Volunteer McKinney during a time of transition, helping stabilize the organization and exceed its fundraising goals in just four months. She also serves on the McKinney Inclusion Council, where she works to elevate diverse voices across the community.

“Wendy is the epitome of female empowerment… She uses her strong voice to lift others.”

Her leadership is both direct and compassionate. Known for her honesty and ability to bring people together, Wendy offers thoughtful guidance, encouragement, and accountability to those around her. In addition to her professional and volunteer work, Wendy is also a dedicated caregiver to her family, balancing personal responsibilities alongside her many community commitments.

Her newest initiative, The Nonprofit Nook, has become a powerful resource for local organizations. Through a free podcast, newsletter, and educational events, the platform provides nonprofits with tools, visibility, and support—strengthening the entire nonprofit ecosystem in McKinney. Through her leadership, service, and advocacy, Wendy Kidd continues to make a lasting impact on the community she so passionately supports.

Whitney Nash: Owner and President, Above & Below 1031

Whitney Nash, Owner and President of Above & Below 1031, LLC, is being recognized as part of the She Leads McKinney Women’s History Month campaign for her leadership and long-standing commitment to serving the McKinney community.

Whitney has dedicated years to giving back through leadership roles across numerous organizations. She has served as President of Volunteer McKinney and remains actively involved with the McKinney Chamber, Women’s Alliance of McKinney (WAM), the Chamber Board, and the McKinney Main Street Board, among others.

“Whitney selflessly gives her time, talent, and knowledge to many nonprofits and organizations in McKinney.”

In addition to leading her business, Whitney shares her expertise through educational classes on 1031 exchanges and provides valuable insight to the organizations she supports.

Through her professionalism, generosity, and consistent service, Whitney continues to make a meaningful and lasting impact on the McKinney community.

Dr. Stephanie Robinson: Executive Director, Volunteer McKinney

Dr. Stephanie Robinson, Executive Director of Volunteer McKinney, is being recognized as part of the She Leads McKinney Women’s History Month campaign for her leadership, collaboration, and commitment to serving the community.

Since stepping into her role, Dr. Stephanie has worked to strengthen partnerships across McKinney—connecting city officials, local businesses, and nonprofit leaders to expand volunteerism and nonprofit education. Through these efforts, she has helped raise more than $89,000 to support Volunteer McKinney’s mission and programs.

“Dr. Stephanie is a tireless public servant, educator, and supporter, focused on driving meaningful impact through education and collaboration.”

In addition to her leadership at Volunteer McKinney, she is an adjunct professor at TCU and an active presence in the community, regularly participating in local events and initiatives.

Through her collaborative leadership and dedication to service, Dr. Stephanie continues to create meaningful opportunities for connection, engagement, and impact across McKinney.

Miranda Talley: Allen & McKinney General Manager, Community Impact

Miranda Talley, Allen & McKinney General Manager at Community Impact, is being recognized as part of the She Leads McKinney Women’s History Month campaign for her leadership and impact in the community.

Through her work, Miranda helps local businesses grow and gain visibility while building strong, lasting relationships across McKinney.

“Miranda is a powerhouse leader… a connector and cheerleader for local businesses.”

She is also deeply involved in the community, serving on boards including Habitat for Humanity Collin County, the Lifepath Systems Foundation, and the Chamber’s WAM board, while mentoring students and supporting local initiatives.

Through her leadership, service, and commitment to others, Miranda continues to make a meaningful impact across McKinney.

Cynthia Elliot VanLandingham: Owner, Cynthia Elliott Boutique

Cynthia Elliot VanLandingham, Owner of Cynthia Elliot Boutique, is being recognized as part of the She Leads McKinney Women’s History Month campaign for her leadership, resilience, and lasting impact on the Historic Downtown McKinney community.

For more than 35 years on the Historic Square, Cynthia has built and sustained a successful business while helping shape the growth and vibrancy of downtown. Known for her strength and adaptability, she has continued to thrive—even during challenging times—by embracing new ideas, including pivoting to live video events and expanding her online presence during COVID.

“She is the epitome of a lady… gentle and gracious, yet incredibly strong and resilient.”

Cynthia is deeply committed to the success of the entire downtown community. She actively participates in Main Street efforts, advocates for improvements that benefit all businesses, and consistently promotes events that bring visitors to McKinney—not just to her store, but to the Square as a whole.

Recently named Small Business of the Year, Cynthia’s leadership reflects both her business acumen and her dedication to serving others.

Through her resilience, community leadership, and unwavering support of local businesses, Cynthia continues to make a meaningful and lasting impact on McKinney.

Maylee is known for the way she shows up for her community—with sincerity, kindness, and a genuine desire to make things better for others. She brings people together, creates spaces where others feel valued, and leads with heart and consistency.

Her work focuses on supporting middle school children and families, providing school supplies, raising funds for medical needs, and offering guidance and connection to those who need it most.

While many of her efforts are visible through initiatives like backpack drives and community programs, much of her impact happens behind the scenes—quiet acts of service that make a meaningful difference every day.

Stephanie Talley: Owner, Academics Plus

Stephanie Talley, Owner of Academics Plus, is being recognized as part of the She Leads McKinney Women’s History Month campaign for her leadership, service, and impact in both education and the broader community.

Through Academics Plus, Stephanie goes beyond traditional tutoring—advocating for students and families while helping them navigate the educational system and achieve meaningful outcomes. Her work reflects a deep commitment to helping students succeed both in and out of the classroom.

“Stephanie exemplifies what it means to be a purpose-driven business owner and community champion.”

In addition to leading a 2025 McKinney Small Business of the Year organization, Stephanie serves as President of McKinney Rotary, sits on the McKinney Chamber Board and Inclusion Council, and actively volunteers throughout the community.

Known for her intentional leadership, Stephanie not only steps into leadership roles—she builds systems, develops others, and creates lasting impact.

Through her dedication, vision, and heart for service, Stephanie continues to strengthen the McKinney community in meaningful and lasting ways.
