The Leadership McKinney Alumni Network welcomed an outstanding panel of state legislators for a thoughtful and engaging discussion focused on the opportunities and challenges facing one of the fastest-growing regions in the country.
Held at the McKinney ISD Community Event Center, the event brought together Leadership McKinney alumni, local elected officials, business leaders, and community stakeholders who share a commitment to investing in the future of McKinney, Collin County, and North Texas. Attendees had the opportunity to hear directly from state leaders on issues impacting our communities today and shaping our future tomorrow.
We were honored to welcome:
- Senator Angela Paxton
- Representative Jeff Leach
- Representative Keresa Richardson
- Representative Mihaela Plesa

The conversation centered on several key issues facing North Texas, including economic growth, workforce development, infrastructure and mobility, housing affordability, and regional collaboration. Each panelist brought a unique perspective while demonstrating a shared commitment to ensuring that Collin County remains a thriving place to live, work, and do business.
One of the most notable themes throughout the discussion was the spirit of collaboration among the panelists. While they may approach issues from different perspectives, each legislator spoke openly about the importance of working together to address the challenges facing our communities. Their discussion reinforced a common goal: advancing policies and solutions that support the continued success of Collin County and North Texas.
Workforce development emerged as a key topic, with legislators highlighting the importance of education, training, and partnerships that prepare Texans for high-demand careers while helping employers meet workforce needs. Infrastructure needs—including transportation, water, energy, and broadband—were also a major focus as panelists discussed the investments required to keep pace with population growth and support the region’s continued success.
Housing affordability and quality of life rounded out the conversation, reflecting concerns shared by families, employers, and communities throughout the region. Throughout the discussion, panelists were candid, thoughtful, and passionate about the future of Collin County, offering valuable insights into the opportunities and challenges ahead.
One of the most valuable aspects of the event was the opportunity for attendees to hear directly from elected officials and gain insight into the policy discussions taking place in Austin. The panel provided a respectful and engaging forum for dialogue on issues that affect businesses, residents, and the health of our communities.
The strong attendance from Leadership McKinney alumni, local officials, business leaders, and community stakeholders underscored the importance of civic engagement and informed leadership. Participants left with a deeper understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing our region and an appreciation for the collaborative approach our legislative delegation is taking to serve Collin County.
