Things You Can Do to Keep McKinney Looking Beautiful

by | Sep 30, 2022

We all play a role in making the city of McKinney a clean and great place to live.

The City of McKinney is offering a variety of steps everyone can take to be a good neighbor.

“We have these guidelines in place for the health, safety and welfare of you and your neighbors. It’s the responsibility of everyone who lives here to do their part and keep their areas maintained. By working together we can keep McKinney an attractive, healthy, and safe place to live,” said Kerry Simpson, City of McKinney Director of Code Services.

1. Remove junk or inoperable vehicles from your property

If a vehicle is a public nuisance, wrecked, dismantled or discarded on the street or in public view on private property, the city can tow it and sell it for salvage.

2. Put trash and recycling containers or bulky items out on time

Containers and items for pick-up have to be set out no earlier than 6 p.m., the day before your scheduled pick-up. The city said container(s) should be at least three feet apart from other containers, mailboxes, vehicles, utility meters, poles, fences, etc., and lids should be closed.

3. Mow it. Bag it. Don’t blow it.

Maintain your yard by keeping your grass to no more than 12 inches in height. Keep your yard clear of debris, dead plants and weeds. Grass clippings, leaves and dead plants clog storm drains and pollute local lakes. Bag them in paper bags and set them by your trash containers on your collection day.
