As home prices increase every month across DFW, what was once affordable may no longer be for some buyers.
In Collin County in January, the average median price for a home that sold was $465,000. That figure was up a whopping 25 percent compared to a year prior.
Defining what a starter home should cost has drastically changed as prices have increased.
We looked through listings recently to see what we could find in McKinney for around $400,000.
Homes move fast so these may already be pending or will soon, but at least this gives you a sense of what you can get in this price range.
The good news is there are still options, though not many. Maybe a half dozen homes in this price point were available from a resale perspective. Because buyers are typically offering over asking price, there is a good chance that the sold prices were more than the listed prices below.
