Community Lifeline Center food pantry receives total make-over!

Tom Thumb and Albertsons Companies Foundation sponsored a remodel for the community food pantry through their Nourishing Neighbors program. McKinney, Texas – 04/30/2025 On Monday, April 28th, Tom Thumb and Albertsons Companies remodeled the 36-year-old CLC Food Pantry. The make-over included new refrigeration, new shelving, a storage unit, new grocery carts, new associate utility carts, and a reconfiguration of the space to allow clients and Community Lifeline Center employees and volunteers easier access.

The $30,000 dollar remodel will allow Community Lifeline Center to serve more clients with added efficiency. The new equipment and configuration will not only increase their efficiency and client capacity, and it will also increase their holding power for fresh and healthy food choices which typically require dependable refrigeration.

Community Lifeline Center in McKinney has been serving residents in Collin County in need for over thirty years. Today, their grocery store style food pantry (client choice) provides nourishment to an average of 150 families per day. The food pantry serves clients Tuesday through Friday.

On Monday of this week, Tom Thumb/Albertsons associates from the Division and District offices volunteered their time to stock groceries, donated by Tom Thumb and Albertsons, along with items that the food panty already had on hand, to finish off the month-long remodel. The goal was to get the food pantry ready for clients who would visit the following day and throughout this week.

“We are incredibly grateful to Albertsons and Tom Thumb for their generous investment in our food pantry renovation,” said Robin Forsythe, Executive Director of Community Lifeline Center. “This transformation will not only improve the experience for the families we serve but will also allow us to operate more efficiently and expand our impact. It’s a powerful example of what can happen when businesses and nonprofits come together to support the communities we serve.”

Wes Jackson, Albertsons Southern Division President, was among those volunteering. “At Tom Thumb and Albertsons, it’s our purpose to bring people together around the joys of food and to inspire well-being. We do this through our stores and the customers we serve and through our community support initiatives like this one”, said Wes. “We are proud to be a part of the incredible work CLC is doing to nourish neighbors in McKinney and Collin County.”

Community Lifeline Center will host a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on May 13th at 4:30pm 1601 Waddill Street, McKinney, to celebrate the renovation of the grocery store style food pantry. The ceremony will include local elected officials, the Chamber of Commerce, Tom Thumb/Albertsons, and other supporting members of the community.
