How Much are Rents Increasing in McKinney?

The cost to rent in the DFW market continues to edge up a little each month, while the year-over-year rent increases still are jumping off the chart.

In March, according to Apartment List, Dallas rents increased 1 percent and are up 17 percent year over year. In dollars, that means it's costing people $1,168 for a one-bedroom apartment and $1,401 for a two-bedroom.

Apartment List says the last time rents didn't increase was way back in November 2020 in Dallas.

What it looks like across the metroplex

• Carrollton has seen a year-over-year increase of 25.1%. The median two-bedroom there costs $1,719, while one-bedrooms go for $1,386.

• Mesquite has seen the biggest rent drop, with a decline of 2.3%. Median two-bedrooms there cost $1,494, while one-bedrooms go for $1,220.

• Plano has the most expensive rents with a two-bedroom median of $1,896; rents were up 0.9% over the past month and 21.5% over the past year.

• McKinney continues to see large year-over-year increases for rent, with March's numbers jumping 23% year over year, but rent has actually dropped by 0.3% compared to February.
