Making a Difference in McKinney: BioLife Plasma Center Now Open

by | May 6, 2025 | 0 comments

The McKinney community has a new opportunity to make a life-saving impact on people in Texas – and on people all around the world. In March, BioLife Plasma Services opened a new plasma donation center at 8676 State Highway 121, in the plaza between Lowe’s and Target.

Millions of people rely on medicines created from donated plasma to treat rare and serious health conditions, such as hemophilia and immunodeficiency disorders. Plasma is also used in a wide variety of emergency and critical-care settings. For some, these medicines are the only treatment option.

BioLife Plasma Services, part of Takeda, is a trusted leader in the collection of high-quality plasma required to produce these lifesaving and life-sustaining medicines. Plasma cannot be manufactured, making it a scarce and critical resource needed to help save and change lives.

The global need for medicines made from plasma has increased over several decades and is expected to continue to rise due to a growing number of diagnoses, easier access to care, and improved coverage of medicines. As a result, the need for plasma donation is more critical than ever.

People choose to donate plasma for a variety of reasons. Whether for personal motivations, a desire to give back, or to receive compensation for their time and commitment, BioLife recognizes and appreciates everyone who graciously donates plasma.

BioLife also believes in the importance of contributing to its communities. This commitment is demonstrated by participating in community service, building strong local connections and establishing partnerships with local leaders.

In addition to the McKinney plasma donation center, BioLife has more than 230 centers across the United States, which includes 28 centers in Texas, along with 35 plasma donation centers in Europe.
