Anna Mayor Nate Pike wants his city to find a reason to say yes. And it seems to be working.
Pike, who serves as the chair of the McKinney Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, has what once was a little town way north of Dallas really humming now with new housing development and retail.
“We want to be a developer-friendly community,” he said in a recent interview with Check Out DFW. “People who don’t know who Anna is, those days are long gone. In a pretty short amount of time, we have put Anna on the map in the metroplex.”
With three significant housing projects under way and more planned for the future, Pike is incredibly optimistic about his city’s future and believes now is the time to grow Anna into the darling of North Texas communities.
According to the city, Anna has grown by more than 1,125% since 2000. And there are more than 13,600 housing starts projected by Residential Strategies Inc. in the Anna area over the next five years.
A ton of change
Since coming on as mayor in 2017, Pike has driven change at City Hall in a big way. Every director has changed over in a two-year period, something Pike recognized as challenging but necessary to put the city in the position it is today.
