Final Week of Early Voting: Why the Texas Primary Election Matters

This is the final week of early voting for the March 2026 Texas primary, which ends on Friday, Feb. 27. Primaries play a critical role in shaping the November ballot, and in many Texas races, they are often the most competitive—and sometimes decisive—elections.

Because turnout is typically lower than in November, primary voters have greater influence on who moves forward and how future policies are shaped. Texans can choose which party’s primary to vote in, with Election Day on March 3. Voting in the primary is one of the most direct ways to have a voice in local, state, and federal leadership.
