McKinney city officials are working to match the continued growth of local youth sports programs through the addition of new athletic fields and expansion projects at existing public facilities. The projects total $80 million. Likewise, private facilities have also adjusted to meet demand. For example, Areté Athletics nearly doubled in size through an expansion project in 2024 and serves over 1,000 athletes that play volleyball and basketball.
